Meet the Founder of A Child Writes
Dwan Perrin is a single, work from home mother of three. She was born and raised in Texas, where she currently resides. In order to care for her middle child, Gabrielle, she left the corporate world to pursue her path at home. Once Gabby’s special needs landed her in the hospital for a four month stay to undergo a Hemispherectomy {brain surgery} the vision of A Child Writes started to form. Gabby received numerous cards from friends, family and friends of family. These cards surrounded her hospital room walls and provided her with the uplifting inspiration to keep going strong. Even during the life threatening times she requested each card be read over and over again. Dwan asks, “Have you ever seen a child receive a letter in the mail and their face lights up? That’s what A Child Writes is all about. We not only want children everywhere to experience that excitement regularly but we want to instill those same values in teaching them to provide for others.” Dwan believes that it is important to bring children together in a safe environment working towards a common goal and educate them on important causes in order to shape strong communities. Nourishing the minds of our children by showing them the feelings they receive from a small act of kindness can be repaid in the same form by them unto others. Thus A Child Writes was born: not just penpals… children unite to build strong communities
